Schooner Lady Antrim ~ 28 July 1908

On this day in 1908 the schooner Lady Antrim was lost in the Pamlico River after being capsized by a water spout. Thankfully all the crew members and captain were able to cling to the inverted hull until a passing ship picked them up. Always be aware of the weather forecast when headed out on the water! The crew of the Lady Antrim did not have the luxury of severe weather alerts like we do today.

The Times-Dispatch out of Richmond, Virginia printed the following related to the incident.
