Schooner Emulous ~ January 22,, 1825

On January 22, 1825, the schooner Emulous ran into a severe snow storm off Kitty Hawk and wrecked. Commanded by Captain Van Name, the ship was traveling from Petersburg for New York with a cargo of cotton, flour and tobacco. The passengers and crew were saved. Four to five ships also wrecked in the storm southward of Cape Henry.
